Who We Are
It All Started With A Desire
In 2022 the affordable housing task force convened by the Mayor of Cornelius, NC concluded its 2 year mission to develop the Cornelius Affordable Housing Plan. As a result of that plan, in July 2022 a group of compassionate and civic-minded leaders joined together, with support from the Town of Cornelius, to form the Cornelius Community Development Corporation (CDC). We determined the establishment of a community development corporate was the best way to address a critical need in our community – affordable housing. In 2023 we expanded our vision to see thriving communities where people can live where they work throughout the Lake Norman area and changed our name to Lake Norman CDC.

We believe having more of those who work in our community afford to live in our community is a cornerstone to a strong, diverse, and stable community and inspired environment. We are committed to providing right solutions for our communities and ensuring a wide range of voices are heard.
Inspire Success
We believe affordable housing may start with a roof, but we help residents beyond securing shelter. By providing coaching and other services, we are committed to inspiring people to successfully move forward towards homeownership.
Foster Partnership
We believe solving the affordable housing challenges facing our community will take creative collaboration. Attainable affordable housing can’t be solved by just building more units. Working in partnership with private, public and non-profit organizations we can develop innovative solutions that will make a lasting difference.
